...and other big girl purchases. I got that lovely chair for a steal, 75 dollars at Pier 1. The original price was 150.00. Solid wood, and it folds, as well as the little black table that I got at Target ($15.00). Throw in 12 dollars for the lights and the hooks to hang them, and my porch is almost complete. (I do need a second chair, realistically).
I also bought a new mattress that I'm getting on Wednesday! Wooo! I got it on sale, free delivery, and they will haul off my old one.
Next on the big ticket dream purchase list:
A real couch.
A Wii.
Knitting has come to a standstill. If I could finish this plain Jane sock, maybe I'd be inspired enough to try something else.
Oh well, summer is officially over. I'll get rebitten by the bug soon enough.

What, you didn't make this for me?
Whole mess of project pictures finally up on Ravelry (user name bluemorpho). Check em out and have a ball. Or, a cat that thinks you spent 8 months making a blanket for her... like this little ingrate, pictured here.

I'm back! sorta....
Well, it's all starting to come together a little. Here's an update for those who have been following me with bated breath.
I defend my thesis on Tuesday. It's mostly done. Thank God. I don't know if I care anymore. Getting my exam card all turned in essentially fills all my requirements and I'll be ready to cross that stage May 10. Speaking of which, I've been trying to find a pretty dress for graduation that a/I won't sweat through and b/won't make me look pregnant, and I'm coming up sadly short on both counts. Anyone have any ideas? I'd be willing to spend up to 50-60 bucks, so send me thoughts.
I'm in my third (and I believe final) round of interviews with Mailtrust, a local tech company that does business email hosting. I would be doing more technical writing, and it actually sounds like it would be pretty fun. From what I've seen, the pay will be pretty good, and it will allow me a chance to breath after graduation, rather than running off and moving away the second I finish school. Because we all know how well that turned out last time.
My blanket is SO close to done. I am on the last color round. After I finish that, I'm going to do four stripes in half-size strips as a border, in the heathered blue that I found. Finally, I may get around to pictures.
The toiling goes on on my first pair of socks, after I have ripped out my progress a MINIMUM of fifty million times and started over. I will learn to knit socks if it's the end of me. I bought the pattern for Koolhaus last night, and I'll be making myself a spiffy hat out of it. I look so awful in winter hats with my chubby face, I hope this one will be different.
Upcoming projects:
If I really like socks, I'm gonna make more socks. Hee.
Dashing for Dad
Dashing for Brooks
Shopping bags!
I have to admit that the 4/16 stuff hasn't been very far from my mind with the anniversary coming up,... but I'm not in the frame of mind right now to post those thoughts... so yeah. I'll just leave it at wow. A year. Already.
Next week, I'm going to Richmond to see one of my favorite bands ever, The New Pornographers! :) I'm going to be in the same room as NEKO CASE and that rules, rules, rules. I might also hit up a yarn store if there is time.
I kind of hope they play this at the show (featuring Ms. Case rocking the vocals):
But the truth is that I'll be thrilled to hear them play anything, because they don't have a single song I don't love.
Later!

stress relief? what stress relief?
I think I've moved past knitting for stress relief and now feel the need to go target shooting. Any takers?

joyous news!
I found my charger cable to my camera!
Ironically enough, it was in the drawer of my desk. So much for this "putting things away" business.
The camera is fully charged now (it was so dead I had to reprogram it) and tomorrow I will take a picture of my glorious log cabin and some of the other yarn related shenanigans I've been into and blog up a storm.
Until then!

Me, have an opinion on crochet? Never.
Alex: Knitting appears to be a common...er, thread, among the English students I've encountered.
Alex: I wonder why that is.
Me: I'm not sure, cause I never thought the two were related
Me: My grandmother taught me how to sew when I was little, and she tried to teach me to crochet as well
Me: I never could figure it out
Me: but a few years ago, when she got sick, I decided to learn how to knit
Alex : I would have thought knitting was more complicated than crocheting, but I know little about either one.
Me: knitting has two needles
Alex: Right.
Me: crochet uses a single hook, and was invented by Satan himself.
Alex : Oh.
Me : Yes.
Alex : I guess that would explain it.
Me: Yup. He's down in hell right now crocheting doilies and Santa Claus toilet seat covers.

*sigh*
Stressful, tiring, heart-rending kind of week, but I'll get back to blogging soon.
